Two-factor authentication (2FA): how to make your account more secure

At Privacy, your security is a priority.

That is why we offer two-factor verification (2FA) to protect your profile even further. With this feature on, only you, with the code generated by an authenticator app, can access your account.

What is two-factor verification?

It is an extra layer of security that requires:

  • Your login password (as always);
  • A code generated by an authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator, Authy or Microsoft Authenticator.

That way, even if someone discovers your password, they will not be able to log into your account without the verification code.

How to turn on 2FA on Privacy

  • Log into your account as usual.
  • Go to the main menu and click "Security and Privacy".
  • Turn on the "Two-factor verification" option.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions:
  • Scan the QR Code with your authenticator app;
  • Enter the code generated in the app;
  • Done. Your account is now protected with 2FA.

Do I need to download an app?

Yes. To turn on 2FA, you need an authenticator app such as:

  • Google Authenticator (Android and iOS)
  • Authy
  • Microsoft Authenticator

They are free and secure.

Extra tip

Write down the backup code generated during activation. It is essential if you lose your phone or need to reinstall the authenticator app.
